We offer evening or day cruises of Topsail Island, Figure 8 Island, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Bald Head Island, Oak Island, and Southport. Our boat accommodates up to 6 passengers. Specializing in sunrise & sunset cruises departing from Wrightsville Beach NC.


Sunrise & Sunset Cruises

Includes morning or evening family cruises of the Wrightsville Beach area including the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. Go for a short 1 hour cruise in the early evening around Wrightsville Beach or a 3 hour cruise in the Wrightsville Beach, Figure 8, and Riches Inlet areas. We also offer daylong cruises including the unique “River to Sea” Cruise. This tour leaves Wrightsville Beach and heads south through the Cape Fear River to Bald Head Island or Southport for lunch (cost not included) with a possible return in the ocean by crossing Frying Pan Shoals and cruise up the beaches of Fort Fisher, Kure Beach and Carolina Beach. You may see dolphins, whales, jumping kings, sea turtles, schools of feeding fish, and a large variety of sea birds. The River to Sea tour is approximately 100 miles and takes a full day. Meet your captain Capt. Dave Timpy of Wavelength Charters Wrightsville Beach NC. Dave offers family boating excursions for dolphin tours, island adventures, family boat rides and more.

The name of our boat is the Wavelength III. She is a 24 foot BayRider 239 powered with a Yamaha F200 owned and operated by Capt Dave. She is fully rigged for inshore and nearshore fishing. She is an open fisherman with no head facilities. She has a full suite of electronics and USCG safety equipment.


Meet Your Captain

Captain Dave Timpy is a licensed USCG Captain, 25 ton Master with a BS and MS in Oceanography. He is a retired Oceanographer/Physical Scientist formerly with the US Army Corps of Engineers. He is a recipient of the 2014 North Carolina Longleaf Pine Award. He is a member of the following conservation organizations:CCA, RFA, NCWF, OCEANA, Sierra Club, NC Coastal Federation, and Greenpeace.  “It’s about the water, right?”

Family Charter / Cruise Rates

*One hour custom day cruises are $150.
*Each additional hour is $125 ea.
*”The River to Sea” tour is $600 for the whole day.   This tour usually runs from 7 am to 2 pm.  Please note this cruise is very weather dependent and will only sail on calm fair weather days.
